叙述トリックモノ
ミステリー小説には「叙述トリック」と呼ばれる技法が存在します。
物語の一部情報を作者が意図的に伏せ、読者に事実を誤認させるテクニックなのですが、
この叙述トリックにまんまと嵌められてしまう快感は筆舌に尽くしがたいものがあります。
さてこの叙述トリックを利用した小説は「どんでん返しがあると知らずに読む」のがやはり騙された際の衝撃が最も大きいのですが、
あらかじめ叙述トリックモノであると知った上で読みたい、という方もおられるかと思います。
そこで今回、私が特におすすめしたい叙述トリックモノをこちらの記事で紹介させていただきます。
慟哭
【あらすじ】
連続する幼女誘拐事件の捜査が行き詰まり、捜査一課長は世論と警察内部の批判を受けて懊悩する。異例の昇進をした若手キャリアの課長をめぐり、警察内に不協和音が漂う一方、マスコミは彼の私生活に関心をよせる。
こうした緊張下で自体は新たな方向へ！
幼女殺人や怪しげな宗教を題材として人間の内奥にある痛切な叫びを描破した本格長編。
上述している幼女誘拐事件への捜査を行う警察と、宗教の生態という2つの軸で物語は進められていきます。

【あらすじ】

三番目の犠牲者を決め、綿密に調べ上げるが、自分の手口を真似て殺された彼女の死体を発見する羽目に陥る。

主人公である成瀬政虎やその他登場人物との「青春」描写は、
悪徳商法の調査という物語のテーマの中で清涼剤としても機能しています。
性質上 陰鬱とした物語が多いミステリー小説の中でにおいて、
本作はどこか爽やかな感情を抱きながら読めてしまうのも魅力と言えるでしょう。
アヒルと鴨のコインロッカー
【あらすじ】
大学入学のため仙台に引っ越してきた椎名は、奇妙な隣人の河崎に出会う。初対面だというのに河崎は、同じアパートに住む孤独なブータン人留学生に広辞苑を贈るため、本屋を襲おうと奇妙な計画を持ちかける。そんな話に乗る気などなかった椎名だが、翌日、モデルガンを片手に書店の裏口に立っていた……。
椎名という大学生の現在の物語と、琴美という女性の2年前の物語が同時に描かれていくカットバック作品。
主人公の椎名と、「本屋を襲おう」という河崎の奇妙な出会いから全ては始まります。
広辞苑を贈るために本屋を襲おうという河崎の真意とは、
そして2年前に起きたとある事件が登場人物達に与えた影響とは。
見事な叙述トリックはもちろん、
登場人物同士の関係性が明るく、そして切なく描かれています。
オススメです。
仮面山荘殺人事件
【あらすじ】
八人の男女が集まる山荘に、逃亡中の銀行強盗が侵入した。外部との連絡を断たれた八人は脱出を試みるが、ことごとく失敗に終わる。
恐怖と緊張が高まる中、ついに一人が殺される。
だが状況から考えて、犯人は強盗たちではありえなかった。七人の男女は互いに疑心暗鬼になり、パニックに陥っていった…。
皆さんもご存知、東野圭吾作品の一つです。
「八人の男女が集まる山荘が外部との連絡を断たれて…」といういかにもな舞台で巻き起こるサスペンス。
一体誰が殺人を犯したのか、この物語はどのような解決をみるのか。
タイトルの「仮面」が何を意味するのかについても推理しながらお読みいただくと、
ある真相に辿り着くことができるかもしれません。
ある閉ざされた雪の山荘で
【あらすじ】
早春の乗鞍高原のペンションに集まったのは、オーディションに合格した男女七名。これから舞台稽古が始まる。
豪雪に襲われ孤立した山荘での殺人劇だ。
だが、一人また一人と現実に仲間が消えていき…？
こちらも引き続き東野圭吾作品。
「仮面山荘」同様、とある施設に7人の若者が集まり一人ずつ消えていく、というまさに王道ミステリとなっています。
叙述トリック、という括りにこそしてはいますが、どちらかというと「基本はこの設定で一本勝負するぞ」という作品。
使用されるトリックや真相もシンプルなものであり、作中でもしばしばヒントが出されるので途中で犯人に気づく人は多いかもしれません。
そのためミステリ初心者の方にもオススメできる作品となっています。
この闇と光
【あらすじ】
森の奥に囚われた盲目の少女・レイアは、父王の愛と美しいドレスや花、物語に囲まれて育てられた。
はい、どのようにあらすじを表現すべきか悩んだ挙句非常に端的にまとめました。
レイアという少女と、その父である王、そしてことあるごとにレイアに冷たい仕打ちをするダフネというキャラクター、
この3人を中心となり物語は進められていきます。
「叙述トリック集」と銘打って紹介しているものの、この作品に関してはトリックというよりキャラクターの心情に注目していただくとより楽しむことが出来るかもしれません。
もちろん「真実」もそれはそれは度肝を抜かれるものですので、目の肥えたミステリーファンの方にもオススメの一作です。
最後に
さて、様々な叙述トリック作品をご紹介してきました。
とはいえいずれも「叙述トリックだけが魅力」という作品ではございません。
ストーリーや登場人物の掛け合いなど、見どころを挙げたらキリがないほど。
是非とも一度手に取っていただきたいと思います。
