今回は宇宙についての記事となります。
宇宙で最も大きなものは？
はじめに
宇宙には様々な星が存在します。
例えば2019年12月、20世紀の古い天体観測データと21世紀の新しい天体観測データを比較する研究により、わずか数十年間で100個もの星が不可解に消失していることも判明しました。
研究者は「『地球外知的生命体による何らかの活動の痕跡』という可能性も排除していない」と説明しており、宇宙には無限の可能性があると言えます。
また2019年12月、冬の夜空に赤く輝くオリオン座のベテルギウスが、この数カ月間で急激にその明るさを失っているとする観測結果がこのほど発表され、
天文学者らは超新星爆発を起こす前触れの可能性があると指摘もあります。
さて、そんな広い宇宙の中で最も大きなものは何なのか、気になったことはありませんでしょうか？
惑星？ブラックホール？
いやいや他にも予想もしなかった巨大な建造物が存在するのでは？
果たして宇宙にはどんな巨大建造物が存在するのか、
直径が短いものから宇宙最大の構造物までを比較しながら見ていきましょう。
※小さな準惑星である冥王星から、最も大きな天体まで見ていくため記事が非常に長くなります。おヒマな時にご覧いただくのがよろしいかと思います。
PLUTO
★直径：2,320 km
まずはこちら。
2006年までは太陽系第の9惑星とされていた現在は準惑星の冥王星。
独特の楕円形の軌道が特徴です。
ちなみにこの直径2320キロというのは北海道から沖縄までを直線で結んだ距離と同じくらい。
(この例えでみなさんがピンと来るかどうかは知りません)
サイズとしては小さいお星様です。
MOON
★名称：月
★直径：3,474 km
地球唯一の衛星でありながら人類が唯一到達したことのある地球外天体でもあります。
地球からは太陽同様に発光して見えますが、
これは太陽の光を反射しているためです。
余談ですが子供の頃は本気で月にウサギが居ると思っていました。今も思っています。(末期)
MERCURY
★直径：4,879 km
太陽系の惑星の中では最も小さい水星。
しかし冥王星の倍程直径がある、ということで冥王星の小ささが際立ちますね。
太陽に近づくために惑星の中でも特に観測が困難な惑星でもあります。
ちなみに4800kmというのは北海道から沖縄までを往復するのと同じくらいの距離です。
なんか冥王星の時に似たような例えを聞いた気がしますが気のせいでしょう。
決して例えのレパートリーが貧困であるというわけではありません。決して。(念押し)
TITAN

★直径：5,151 km
土星の衛星でありながら非常に大きく、「惑星のような衛星」と記述されることも多いこの星。
太陽系の衛星の中では唯一濃い大気を持っているのが特徴。
タイタンのタイは大気のタイということですね。
何言ってんだ俺？
GANYMEDE

★直径：5,268 km
さあ太陽系の衛星の中では最も巨大なガニメデくんの登場です。
木星の衛星でありながら唯一磁場を持つことが知られる衛星でもあります。
ちなみに全然海とか無さそうな顔をしてるガニメデくんですが
地球の海よりも多くの水を保持している可能性のある内部海も存在しています。
MARS
★名称：火星
★直径：6,779 km
「ねえねえ、火星はどうして赤いの？」と幼い子供に聞かれたら
「それはね、惑星の表面に海が無い上に地表に大量の酸化鉄が含まれているためだよ」と優しく教えてあげてください。
火星の自転周期は地球に非常に近く、地球同様に自転軸を太陽に傾けるため
季節が存在するのも特徴です。
IK PEGASI B
Wikipedia「ペガサス座IK星」より引用、1番下の星がペガサス座IK星(左)
★名称：ペガサス座IK星B
★直径：8,348 km
さあこれまでは太陽系の天体ばかりが登場し「ああ、この惑星なら知ってる知ってる」と読者からしても馴染み深かったこの記事ですが
ここに来て「ペガサス座IK星」という全く知らないお星様が登場。誰ですかあなたは。
太陽からおよそ150光年離れた距離にあり、肉眼でギリッギリ確認できる明るさが持ち味。
中々ミステリアスな奴です。
KEPLER-70B

★直径：9,671 km
はい、というわけで更によくわからない奴がランクインしてきました。
この記事はまだまだ序盤、この段階で謎な星ばかり登場して読者の皆様にページを離脱されないか不安なところではあります。
ちなみにこのケプラー70b は地球からおよそ3850光年離れた距離に位置する恒星。
はい、その距離すら離れすぎてよくわからないですね。
VENUS
★直径：12,104 km
さあ、やっと顔馴染みに出会えました。
2回続けて知らない人を紹介されましたからね、金星が登場した安心感は尋常ではありません。
ちなみに地球から見ると太陽と月に次いで明るく見えることから、
明け方に見える金星を「明けの明星」、夕方に見える金星を「宵の明星」と言います。
EARTH
★直径：12,742 km
さあ出ました我らが地球。
これまで殺風景なお星様ばかり続いてきたこともあっていつにも増して地球が輝いて見えます。
地球は青かった。
この星の特徴はなんといっても
現在確認されている中で唯一生物を宿す惑星であるということでしょう。
計算上は宇宙のどこかに生命体が存在するはずなのですが、果たしていつ「宇宙人」に出会えるか楽しみなところです。
